Semolina Barfi

This is traditional sweet used in many occasions. Make this at your happy moments 

Semolina Barfi


  • Water 1 cup
  • Green cardamom powder ¼ teaspoon
  • Sugar 1 & ½ cups
  • Ghee 2 tablespoons 
  • Green cardamom powder ¼ teaspoon
  • Semolina 1 & ½ cups
  • Coconut desiccated ½ cup
  • Dried milk powder ½ cup
  • Almonds chopped as required
  • Pistachio chopped as required
  • Dates 2-3 finely chopped or as required
  • Coconut desiccated for sprinkling
  • Pistachio chopped for sprinkling
  • Almonds chopped for sprinkling


  1. In a pot, add water cardamom powder and sugar and bring to boil and then let the liquid reduce until it becomes thick for almost 10-12 minutes.
  2. In another wok, melt ghee and add cardamom powder and semolina and roast for 5 minutes until aroma arises.
  3. Add in desiccated coconut, milk powder, chopped almonds, chopped pistachio and chopped dates and roast for another 3-5 minutes.
  4. Add the water and sugar mix and mix well, and then roast again until the mixture leaves pan.
  5. Spread and set in a greased tray and leave to rest for an hour.
  6. Sprinkle desiccated coconut, pistachio and almonds and cut in squares.
