Potato Dum Biriyani

Potato plus rice. Best combination ever 

Potato Dum Biriyani

Ingredients: 

  • Potatoes peeled ½ kg small
  • Yellow food color 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cooking oil 2-3 tablespoons
  • Salt 1 pinch
  • Yogurt whisked 1 Cup
  • Red chili powder ½ tablespoon or to taste
  • Knorr chicken powder 1 sachet (10 gms)
  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon
  • Coriander powder 1 tablespoon
  • Salt 1 teaspoon or to taste 
  • Nutmeg & Mace powder 1/4 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice 2 tablespoons
  • Ginger garlic paste ½ tablespoon
  • Green chilies crushed 2 tablespoons
  • Onion fried ½ Cup
  • Cooking oil 1/4 Cup
  • Mint leaves chopped ½ Cup
  • Fresh coriander chopped ½ Cup
  • Onion fried ½ Cup
  • Rice basmati ½ kg (boiled until 3/4th done)
  • Knorr chicken powder 1 sachet (10 gms)
  • Ghee 1 & ½ tablespoons
  • Water 1-2 tablespoons
  • Yellow food color ½ teaspoon or as required
  • Onion fried

Preparation:

  1. In a bowl, add potatoes, yellow food color, mix well and set aside.
  2. In a wok, add cooking oil, potatoes, sprinkle salt and fry until golden brown (12-15 minutes) and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, add yogurt, red chili powder, chicken powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt, nutmeg and mace powder, lemon juice, ginger garlic paste, green chili, fried onion, mix well and set aside.
  4. In a pot, add cooking oil, spiced yogurt and mix well.
  5. Add fried potatoes, mint leaves, fresh coriander, fried onion, boiled rice, chicken powder and ghee.
  6. In a water, add yellow food color.
  7. Add dissolve food color, fried onion, cover and steam cook for 10-15 minutes and serve!
